When faced with an “Alarm 1” in the controller state window in UGS, the firmware value is incorrect (the hard limits are turned on). To turn off the hard limits, type “$21=0” into the command text box of the console window in UGS and press 'enter'.

If this does not solve the issue of alarm 1 being present, try typing “$rst=$” in the command bar to do a full reset of the firmware.
