X and Y issue

Hi, my cnc router seems to carve top to bottom instead of left to right. In other words when I looking at the design on my screen instead of carving like it shows from left to right it is carving 90degrees to the right.
Is that correct or do I have something reversed?

    The E3 carves in the landscape mode.  The X axis is the gantry moving and is horizontal on the screen,  The Y-axis is the spindle moving across the gantry and is vertical on the screen.
